The best way to please a loved one right in the morning is to make shakshuka for breakfast! This is an Israeli version of scrambled eggs - spicy, fragrant and very satisfying.

Recipe " Shakshuka"

Ingredients for 2 servings

chicken egg
4 pcs.
red bell peppers
½ pcs.
onions
50 g
ripe tomatoes
3-4 pcs.
garlic
2 cloves
tomato paste
100 g
olive oil
80 g
water
½ cups
salt
½ tsp
sugar
½ tsp
freshly ground black pepper
to taste
hot fresh pepper
to taste
ground cumin
pinch
sweet paprika
pinch
fresh parsley
a few twigs
Step 1/6
Finely dice the red bell peppers, onions, garlic and tomatoes.
Step 2/6
In a heavy-based pan (preferably cast iron), heat the oil and fry the onion until transparent. Add finely chopped garlic and fry everything together for another minute.
Step 3/6
Add all the spices, including salt and sugar, and warm for another 1-2 minutes.
Step 4/6
Add red pepper to the pan, fry for another 2 minutes.
Step 5/6
Add the tomato paste and, after a minute or two, the tomatoes. Pour in half a cup of water and simmer, the sauce should become uniform. Do not forget to stir the dish so that the sauce does not burn.
Step 6/6
With a large tablespoon, make 4 depressions in the vegetable mass and break into each egg, salt. Fry under the lid until the eggs are cooked as desired. Serve shakshuka hot, sprinkled with chopped parsley, with heated pita.
