Muhammara is a spicy baked pepper snack that is very popular in the Middle East. Most often it is served as a dip with warm cakes, as well as a sauce for meat, fish, and poultry. Or you can just spread muhammara on bread, sprinkle with grated cheese and enjoy.

Recipe "Muhammara"
Ingredients for 2 servings
bell pepper (yellow and red)
2 pcs.
fresh chilli or jalapeño
1 pc.
walnut
40g + handful to serve
olive oil
30 ml (2 tbsp)
pomegranate juice
40 ml
salt
to taste
coriander in grains
4 peas
lemon juice
10 ml
fresh cilantro for decoration
a couple of twigs
wheat tortillas

Step 1/6
Cut the tortilla into four pieces and lightly toast in a dry pan.
Step 2/6
Bake the peppers (Bulgarian and chilli) in foil in the oven at 200 degrees for 15 minutes. Then turn off the oven, leave them inside for 15 minutes to get to the ready side.
Step 3/6
Remove the peppers from the oven, peel them off, remove the insides.
Step 4/6
In a blender, whisk together all the ingredients except the cilantro.
Step 5/6
Put the resulting mass on a plate. Garnish with chopped walnut and cilantro on top.
Step 6/6
Serve muhammara with baked tortilla triangles.
