The classic "Soviet" brushwood looked exactly like that, in fact, and it tasted no different. True, water was usually added to the dough, but we recommend cooking brushwood from two ingredients - flour and eggs. And, of course, be sure to roll up classically and sprinkle with powdered sugar at the end.

Recipe "Classic brushwood"
Ingredients for 4 servings
flour
170-180 g
egg
2 pcs.
vegetable oil
2.5 cups
icing sugar
5 tbsp. spoons
Step 1/10
Break the eggs into a bowl, loosen with a fork.
Step 2/10
Add most of the flour, stir.
Step 3/10
Place on a table and knead, adding a little flour, until you get a tight elastic dough that does not stick to your hands.
Step 4/10
Roll the finished dough into a ball, wrap in a film and leave for half an hour.
Step 5/10
Roll out the dough into a 1 mm thick layer, cut into strips about 3 cm wide and about 6 cm long.
Step 6/10
Make a longitudinal cut in the centre, then wrap one edge inwards to form two spirals.
Step 7/10
You can make any other form, but the classic brushwood is folded just like that.
Step 8/10
Heat the vegetable oil in a saucepan.
Step 9/10
Fry in batches in boiling oil until golden, and then spread the finished brushwood on a napkin so that excess oil is absorbed.
Step 10/10
To serve, sprinkle powdered sugar over the brushwood.
