Potato dumplings are similar to the Italian gnocchi known to many, but differ in shape. Make them with a sauce of vegetables and meat - and you have an unusual, tasty and satisfying dish for lunch or dinner .

Ingredients for 6 servings
prime grade wheat flour
9 tbsp. l.
boiled potatoes
3 pcs.
table salt
1/2 tsp
ground black pepper
1/6 tsp
egg
3 pcs.
ground beef
1 pack (360 g)
onions
1 pc.
sauerkraut
175g
fresh carrots
2 pcs.
canned tomatoes
1/2 can (360g)
beet
2 pcs.
table salt
1/2 tsp
chicken broth
1 bag (250 ml)
fresh dill
a couple of twigs
ground black pepper
to taste
Step 1/9
Peel and cut the onion into half rings. Preheat the pan with 1-2 tbsp. l. vegetable oil and fry the onions until golden brown for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Step 2/9
Peel and grate carrots on a coarse grater.
Step 3/9
Peel and cut the beet into strips or also grate on a coarse grater.
Step 4/9
Place the carrots and beetroot to onion and fry until cooked through for about 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add sauerkraut and cook, stirring occasionally, for another 30 minutes.

Spread the vegetables a little around the edges and place the mince in the pan. Fry until golden brown and combine with the vegetables.

Add tomatoes and broth (you don't have to defrost in advance). Salt, pepper and simmer for about 30 minutes until soft.

Grind the vegetables with a minced blender until smooth. Transfer back to the pan.

Remember the potatoes with a fork, add flour, eggs, salt, pepper and mix until smooth.

Shape into roughly walnut-sized potato dumplings. Put in the sauce and cook for 10 minutes. Serve the dumplings with the sauce and chopped dill.
