We wondered if we could make a sponge roll at home - and here's what we did! They took the classic Gostovsky recipe as a basis, cherry jam was used as a syrup (for color and light cherry aroma). The roll turned out to be tasty! It differs from the one you can buy, just like any home recipe from a recipe adapted for production. Which one tastes better? Try and decide for yourself.

Recipe "Biscuit roll"
Ingredients for 6-8 servings
wheat flour
90 g
sugar
90 g
chicken egg
3 pcs.
butter
200 g
condensed milk
250 g
syrup
100 ml
Step 1/6
Beat the eggs with sugar in a foam until the sugar dissolves. Add the sifted flour and quickly knead the dough.
Step 2/6
Spread a sheet of baking paper on a baking sheet and spread the dough in an even 5mm thick layer. It should turn out to be a rectangle measuring about 35 by 25 cm. Put the dough in an oven preheated to 190 ° C and bake for about 15 minutes. Check readiness with a toothpick, it should remain dry.
Step 3/6
It is advisable to leave the finished biscuit to stand overnight without removing it from the paper. If this is not done, the dough may break when rolled up.
Step 4/6
For the cream, whisk the soft butter with the condensed milk.
Step 5/6
Remove the paper from the biscuit and soak in the syrup. For syrup, you can take liquid jam and dilute with water to 100 ml or use sweet compote. If desired, you can add a little brandy to the syrup.
Step 6/6
Spread the sponge cream and gently roll into a roll on the long side, refrigerate for an hour to set.
