Tea shu puer and shen puer, the differences and similarities of which we will consider in this article, is considered an elite variety. It is grown in the southern Chinese province of Yunnan. Despite the fact that Pu'er tea & nbsp; shu and shen can be produced from the same tea leaves, the difference in them is significant.
Manufacturing differences
The quality of raw materials for the production of shen puer is more important than for the production of shu. Therefore, it is often harvested from tea trees with coarse fleshy leaves and a high content of biological substances. Tea tree age, harvest season, and aging time after production affect the cost of shen puer.
Both types of puer are made from tea bush leaves. After harvesting, raw materials are subjected to different processing processes, due to which shen pu'er and shu pu'er become different.
Shen Pu'er production steps after leaf harvesting:
-
raw materials are ventilated and dried in the sun to reduce moisture by 20-30%;
-
the leaves are twisted into the desired shape, dried under the influence of high temperatures;
-
are additionally dried in the sun;
-
steam pressing step for shaping;
-
Hold Shen Pu'er for final drying (best hold time 10-20 years).
Production steps for shu pu after leaf harvesting:
-
in order to quickly get elite Chinese puer tea, the raw materials are laid out in heaps, covered with a cloth, poured with a plentiful amount of water so that the leaves begin to melt;
-
leaves are constantly sorted and mixed to speed up the fermentation process, control indoor humidity and temperature - the process takes several months;
-
dark leaves are dried in the sun;
-
The finished tea is pressed and packaged.
If we translate the names of the Puers, we will see that & ldquo; shen & rdquo; will mean & ldquo; raw & rdquo;, & ldquo; shu & rdquo; - ready.
Shen maturation occurs naturally, and pu'er shu is artificially stimulated to accelerate the maturation process. At the same time, the chemical composition of the raw materials is preserved, that is, all useful elements created by nature.
Such different processes for the production of shu puer and shen puer are reflected in the external differences of pancakes: in the dry form, shen puer is lighter with light interspersed teas, while shu puer has a rich dark brown shade of pancake.
When brewing, the Chuera infusion has lighter amber-honey tones, and the Chuera infusion, as a rule, has a rich brown color.

Characteristics of shu pu:
-
the taste of the drink is heavier, but softer than that of shens;
-
the drink has a dark infusion of red-brown color, may have a slight density;
-
There are woody notes in the taste, but the higher the quality of shu pu, the more interesting the taste, which additionally gives shades of chocolate and nuts.
